Dorohedoro is getting an anime and I’m pretty excited to see it get any more attention or fandom but I hope the anime has a good art style because there’s really no way a modern anime studio is gonna directly translate the way this manga is drawn
Wait I should have answered this here anyway for everyone else who wonders.
Describing what Dorohedoro is “about” isn’t really simple. I guess it’s “about” a guy who was cursed with the head of a lizard, hunting for the sorcerer responsible. I guess that’s an interesting draw all on its own, but the setting and characters really are wholly unlike any other manga and anime out there. Here’s some assorted images:
The best part is how lighthearted and goofy the writing actually is. The giant mutant cockroach becomes a friendly sidekick and the demons and sorcerers are just gigantic nerds.
Also, here’s the author’s self portrait:
But this is the author for real:
her art gets a lot of criticism for “ugliness” and for “bad anatomy” but she doesn’t give a shit, she draws what she can draw the way she likes to draw it to tell the story she wants to tell.
i went in to a cells at work thread on 4chan’s /a/ because i can’t help but immerse myself in sludge and the whole thread was anons talking about how they’ve been eating better and drinking more water because they want the anime girls that live inside of them to be happier
shinzo abe you son of a bitch, you did it.
cells at work is an anime about anthropomorphic cells living in a human body, depicted as a large city
otaku on 4chan watched the show and, in a desire to make the cells in their bodies happy, have started to live healthier lives
shinzo abe, the prime minister of japan and noted son of a bitch, actually managed to get anime viewers to start taking care of themselves through anime
if you’re offline or away and i message you something (like a link to a meme or a picture or w/e) honestly just assume that i’m just leaving it there for when you get back and not expecting you to answer straight away. i don’t need you to respond with “hey, sorry, i wasn’t at the computer!” or anything. i was leaving u a gift for later.
This also applies if you’re online and just don’t want to or have the energy to deal with humans in the moment. Just because we have the ability to reply in real time does not mean we have the obligation.
